I saw some really nice new houses down by the river the other day. I was surprised because they were actually quite nice – they had been designed to pay homage to Old Essex houses which themselves give a nod to the sea. Essex is a sea faring county, and this fact is often reflected in the kinds of housing available. It is very different form other parts of the UK, being a little easier on the eye, some would say.
Some people would say that the typical house design of the Essex coast owes something to Danish style house building – something that is understandable given the close links the county has with the Scandinavian state.
